Chronology of cameras Ruberg und Renner
The Ruberg and Renner company was best known for its manufacture of cycles, and its production of cameras seems to have only lasted between 1931 and 1935.
The Swan presented here dates from 1934.
This very basic metal case is a variation of the Ruberg from the same year. It also appears under the names Ruby Sport, Hollywood Duplo or even Nenita, different surnames depending on the markets for which it was intended.
The Swan bears the French words “importé d'Allemagne” (Imported from Germany) and “Petit Diaphragme” (small diaphragm) on the lens.
It is a 127 format for 4 x 6 cm images.
The lens deploys using a helical ramp. It offers two apertures (small and large diaphragm), an instantaneous speed and the T pose adjustable thanks to the sort of notched washer strangely hiding almost entirely the "N" of the word Swan.
